关于加快城市轨道交通设备的国产化进程，请读者注意阅读刘铁男与陶生桂、王曰凡的两篇大作。前一篇作者从国产化工作的全局出发，提出了一系列真知灼见；后一篇是两位作者在上海地铁1号线的进口车上，用IGVT静止辅助逆变器代替GTO的技术开发成果，其重要性就象在人体成功地进行了“肾移值”手术一样。
从本期起本刊由同济大学主办。原因是同济大学已与上海铁道大学合并组建新同济大学(参与本期第11页)。其意义可用《解放日报》报道此消息时所用的标题来概括：“强强联合，迈向世界一流大学”。让我们同舟共济，乘风破浪，为把同济大学办成一流的现代大学而共同奋斗!
